Life Rocks when your living room rolls
We had a short drive to Mississippi which I couldn’t believe how fast it went. It seemed like I was only in the truck for like half an hour but it was about 2 hour drive. We pulled into our RV park just after 1 and I ran in to check us in. It was across the street from the ocean so everything was within walking distance. The maintenance man showed us to our site and helped us get parked. Since it was Wednesday and Chris was working we did just the minimum, level, disconnect, push the slide out, and power then he got back to work. I finished getting the rest of the items inside pulled out. This was also just a 2 night stop so we didn’t take much out. Once Chris was done with his workday he finished the outside items of connecting the sewer and water. We then walked around to check the campgrounds out. It was a little chilly so we didn’t stay outside too long. For dinner, we walked across to Shaggy’s, a local restaurant just on the other side of the road. We sat at the bar and quickly started a conversation with the bartender and some others who were sitting next to us. We had a fun time chatting with all of them. They gave us some ideas of things to do around the area that we took note of but knowing we didn’t have long here we didn’t think we would be able to make it to any of them. The next day Chris worked for a while and I got our laundry done. Around noon we walked to try out Go-Karting. Chris had never been so he was very much looking forward to going. We had to sign our waivers and then signed up to do 2 sessions. We have about 20 minutes to wait then we are up. There are about 7 other riders that will be on the course. We were happy to have so many. It makes the race a bit more fun with more people. We have to watch a safety video then we get our helmets and are assigned to the kart. We sit down and get buckled in. The first lap is a practice lap then the race starts. Chris is destroying me. He laps me I think at least once then we see the others pulling off the track. They stop me at the starting line and I see Chris pull in with the other carts. They turn him around and he comes to meet me at the start. There is another group of people getting into the carts now. We are told to wait until they are all out and then we can begin. Again, the first lap is a practice for them so we take it easy. Once around we floor the gas and give it all it has. Chris again is smoking me. This time I saw him pass me twice and would have got me a third if our race didn’t end. We make our way to the parking spot, unbuckle, take our helmets off, and hop out of our karts. They have us put our helmets on the shelf at the exit. They bring us the tote that is holding our belongings. We are given our final race numbers. Chris is 10th overall out of all the racers that month. I did okay but did not place. We make our way back to the camper so Chris can finish his work day. Once he is done we chill for a bit then we head out to do some shopping. We head to the Sharkheads souvenir shop to at least find a sticker. Outside the store, they have a shark mouth that I climb into and have Chris snap a photo. We make our way inside where the store is filled with everything imaginable. We find the sticker we want then we look at the air-brushing pieces they have. We want to find a front plate for the truck. Chris asked if I wanted to have a custom one done but nothing is popping out at me. We find one that is perfect. We take the 2 items to the cashier to make our purchase. While walking out Chris jumped into a shark and popped his head out so I had to take a video. We sometimes act our ages but it’s not too often. We walk the boardwalk to the end to see how long it is. We want to see if the distance is sufficient to get in a good run. It is about 2 miles so we agree we will get up and run in the morning. Once back down towards the RV park, we grab dinner at Kingjaks. Chris had to take a photo of the front of the building as it was too funny not to. We again sit at the bar. The bartender recommends one of his signature drinks which we try. It is so good. We order our meal. What Chris had ordered they were out of but he quickly decided on something else and was not disappointed. He orders another signature drink the bartender has and I stay with the same one I had. We chat with a few others sitting next to us and once done we make our way back home. We get ready for bed and relax watching TV until it’s lights out time. I set an alarm to be up for sunrise. I walk over to the beach to snap a few photos. This will be the last time we are near the ocean for a while so I am trying to take it all in. Once I am back we head out to do our run on the boardwalk. It is a bit chilly but we get done 2.5 miles which is less than we like to do but at least we got a workout in. We get dressed and Chris jumps on to work for a bit. I ran to grab a few items at the local grocery store but they didn’t have what I needed. I tried another store about 15 minutes away and could get all the items we needed. When I got back I was surprised that Chris hadn’t started doing his outside duties since check out was 11 and it was already 10:45. He had thought it was a 1 pm check out. We quickly get things all picked up and are hooked up and pulling out of the park at 11:20.
As we were leaving the maintenance man came and checked to see how our stay was. We told him we had a nice time. He offers to take our garbage for us so I put it on his golf cart. We say goodbye and head out on the road. We luckily have another short drive but are excited as we are going to be 10 days at our next stop and we have so much planned. I am so anxious to get there.
