Life Rocks when your living room rolls
We moved into our final stop in Vermont to spend 12 days at North Beach Campground. Growing up I have always spent hours on end at this beach so I knew this was where I wanted to end our final stay before heading out. I honestly can't believe it has been almost 2 months that we have been living in the camper. Since we only had a 15-minute drive from our last spot in Colchester we were there way before check-in. We pulled into the parking lot before entering the campground and I ran down to see if we could get in early as the checkout time was noon and it was after that. The young woman at the counter looked at her computer and says I don't see it checked out yet but I am sure they are gone and it just hasn't been updated. She says we can head down to our spot. I call Chris and I tell him we can get in, to come down, and that I was going to just walk to our spot. As I'm walking down the road I am seeing the numbers 1, 2 3... I look ahead and see that our spot 6 still has someone in it. I call immediately to Chris to try to catch him but he is already right behind me. I let him know the people are still there so maybe just pull down the road that is just across from our spot. I am walking over to see if the people are getting ready to leave because by the looks of it they didn't plan on moving any time soon. They ask if I am coming into this spot? I say yes, so they respond they will start packing up. I walk back to the office to let them know that site 6 is still occupied. She says she will call them. I then ask her if there is somewhere we could put the camper while we wait. She gives us an overflow spot we could go but once I am back to Chris and we look where it is he decides to just stay in the spot he had found off to the side. We also had the entertainment of a man going through the garbage collecting soda cans (it was absolutely disgusting but also sad to watch). We ended up keeping all the returnables in a garbage bag and put it outside the garbage when we left (hopefully save someone the trouble of getting into the garbage) We sat there for a little bit then the camper was finally out of our spot. We are facing the direction that we have to exit the campground and circle back in to get to our site. The campground is also the only entrance to the beach and it was a beautiful sunny day so cars were backing up. As we get to the exit they are closing the gate due to the beach parking lot being full. We let the lady know that we are staying here and just trying to get to our site. She said we wouldn't be able to get around the cars so we will have to go up turn around and come back in through the exit. She states to be very careful for the cars that are coming out due to only being a single lane. We finally get to our site and began to set up. We're staying for 12 days so everything got to come out so it took a little bit longer to get everything done. Chris hadn't ever had Beansie's Bus so we took the Super 73's to get dinner there then stopped over at moms. I hadn't seen it her in over a month so I was happy to see her. We also had some packages that we needed to pick up so we also grabbed those. We hung out with her for a bit then back to our home. We were getting ready to sit by the fire and unwind before heading to bed when Chris goes to the truck to get something out and says hello to the campers in the site aside of us. They begin a conversation so I get up to go meet them. We invite them to come over to sit by the fire with us. It is a younger couple, Paige and Evan, who are also living the RV lifestyle. They do 3 night stays at places and then off to the next stop until they hit their destination place. They were happy to hear the next campground they were heading to, Mountainview, was where we had stayed in Morristown and were glad to know how much we loved it there. We had a blast hanging out with them. They even gave us a tour of their 5th wheel they had redone themselves. Plus, when you live in a 26' and walk into a 32' with 3 slides, it is like a mansion but what a beautiful rig they had. We ended up showing them around ours, which was like 3 minutes because its really just 1 room with slide and a bathroom 😆 While inside I noticed it was now after 11pm and I needed to go to bed. Monday was back to work and getting the week ahead plans defined. The week was overall quiet. Wednesday evening we took the paddleboards out to Rock Point and caught a beautiful sunset. It was such beautiful weather and evening. Thursday my friend came over for dinner and brought us some goodies. We enjoyed the conversation with her but the goodies didn't turn out to be as good as we had hoped. Friday we did shopping and dropped items off at moms but otherwise took it easy as we knew Saturday was our going away party and we had to be rested. Saturday morning we relaxed some and got the last few things together before going to moms. Once there we begin getting food prepared. Chris' friend had texted and asked if they could come a little early so just after noon they showed. It was great having the one and one time with them. We hung out at the back of the yard enjoying the view and each others company. Time had got away from me and before I knew it other people were showing up and I wasn't ready. They headed out as well and I let the folks know I had few things to finish up to make themselves comfortable and food and drinks will be out shortly. We were able to get the remaining things all set up and just in time for more people to show up. We had a wonderful day hanging out and saying farewell to our friends and family. The bad weather ended up staying across the lake and we only had a short light rainfall. This party also made us realize who the real people in your life are and can really appreciate the friendship we have with each of them. I am going to miss them all so much but know that absence makes the heart grow fonder and will look forward to hugging each of them again. We received a few going away gifts. My Aunt Mary gave us these 3 wooden Christmas cutouts of a snowman, snowwoman and a Christmas tree. They are the most adorable and small enough to fit perfect in our storage space. I can't wait to pull them out for the holiday. It will be warming to have something from family in the camper. I was so excited that by the end of the gathering when everyone had left we were able to get rid of all the alcohol we had that we couldn’t make fit in the camper. We picked up all the food and put the things we had aside so we could pick them up tomorrow as we only had the bikes. My mom refused to let me do any of the dishes. This women is my blessing. She allowed us to use her home, she spent the day cleaning and being sure it was all ready and still at the end of the night when I know she was exhausted, she kept going. I am so inspired by this lady and even more proud to be her daughter. I sure am going to miss her bunches while out on the road. Sunday we stayed in bed a little bit longer. We talked about it being the last week in Vermont and the excitement and fears we have. I can't even put into words the way I feel waking up next to Chris and how he makes me feel. Just when I think I can't fall any deeper in love, my heart grows in size and flutters. He made a great brunch and we sat sipping mimosa. Later that afternoon we went back to moms to pick up our items from the party and relaxed in the back yard chatting with her for a couple hours. Leaving was just the beginning of tears that fell over the week ahead. It also will be a busy week fitting in last minutes goodbyes. One thing that did happen on Sunday morning was when Chris got out of bed and went to use the bathroom he noticed the water was high and when he tried to flush it wouldn't go down. He immediately tells me to get dressed and go shut the main water valve off to the camper. I go out and turn it off. The people who are set up next to us keep talking to me but I am trying to work with Chris to see what needs to be done. We find that the shut off switch that was connected to the hose to flush the black tank was open slightly and water was dripping into the tank which has now filled with 30 gallons. I pull the black water handle and instantly the water goes gushing thought the hose. I am not sure if someone hit the switch or what caused that to happen but I am so glad we caught it before any water started coming up into the camper. We also now know that anytime we dump the black and gray tank and use the black tank flush, we will be disconnecting the hose from the camper. On Monday, Chris surprised me with a pole dance class that was called Flying Over 40. It was for women over 40 to help it be a little more comfortable. with women our own age. I have always wanted to try a class so I was very excited about it. I had a wonderful time. The instructor was incredible and the others in class were so welcoming. I was pleased that by the end of the class, I could actually accomplish a move.
Tuesday we had plans to go see a friend I haven't seen in years. We had a DMV appointment to register the truck so after we picked up the preordered pizza from Leonardo's and heading to her house. It has been years since I caught up with her. We use to work together and I found so much comfort and support during some very difficult times in my life from her. She has been a strong lady in my life for a very long time and I couldn't leave without her meeting Chris. We had a wonderful evening hanging out around the table with Ann and her husband Bob. It is always so great to see them and reunite with sharing many wonderful memories. Wednesday it was Chris's birthday so we made dinner plans at a local restaurant in Winooski to use up a gift certificate we have had for a while. A few friends stopped in with gifts or to just have a birthday drink with him. Once we were just about done I excused myself to go to the ladies room. I had a gift bag and gift in my purse to get together to give to Chris. I go out and place the gift bag in front of him. As he is starting to open it, I knock my purse on the floor and as I pick it up I got on a knee, gave Chris a ring, and asked him to spend the rest of his life with me? I slid the ring on (thankfully it fit perfect) and hugged this man I get to call all mine. We then walked to riverwalk enjoying the view and each other. Thursday I had plans to go to lunch with just me and my 2 children. We met at the Burlington Bay Market & Cafe and got sandwiches to go. Down we walked to sit at the boathouse on the grass and enjoy lunch together. We talked about our life together just the 3 of us and how things will be with me being away. I am probably biased but I must say I have some amazing children and still can't believe they are mine. They were great sports and let me take some pictures with them then we went back to the store and got creamees. We sat a few more minutes eating our ice cream then it was time to say goodbye. I did my best not to cry but I absolutely took in each of their hugs and if I could I would bottle them up. I am sure going to miss them soooooooo fricken much! ![]() Friday, the day has come, we begin our journey to head out and hit all the states. We pack up and get everything secure for the longest drive time pulling we have done so far. Once everything is ready, off we go. We made a quick detour down Lakeview Terrace to say goodbye to Mom. Gave her big hugs, tried to hold back tears, and then we were off.
